Substitute Griezmann helps Atlético to narrow victory over Valencia
Antoine Griezmann has helped Atlético Madrid to a narrow victory over Valencia as a substitute. It was 0-1 in Mestalla, the home of Valencia. Griezmann, who came in for Rodrigo De Paul, was only just inside the lines when he scored the winning goal halfway through the second half.
Griezmann shot from the edge of the box and his shot went through the body of Valencia captain Carlos Soler into the goal. It was Griezmann’s second goal of the season.
Last season, when 31-year-old Griezmann came over from FC Barcelona, the French forward scored just three goals in 26 league games.
Atlético Madrid have 6 points after three matches. Only Real Madrid and Real Betis have not yet suffered a loss of points in La Liga.
