News item | 14-11-2022 | 10:31

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy is extending the Value Increase subsidy by six months. As a result, it will continue in its current form until June 1, 2023. The Value Increase subsidy has been in existence since 2017 and is intended to compensate for the (slow) settlement of earthquake damage as a result of gas extraction from the Groningen field or the Norg gas storage.

The subsidy is intended for residents who have suffered damage of at least € 1,000. They can apply for a subsidy of a maximum of € 4,000 for energy-saving or sustainability measures such as solar panels, (floor) insulation or a heat pump.

With the extension in its current form, State Secretary Hans Vijlbrief is meeting the wishes of the region. He also hopes to create peace of mind for the inhabitants of the earthquake area. In addition, in this way the money that has been reserved for the Valuation Scheme is retained for the people of Groningen.

The extension until June 1, 2023 is expected to cost €60 million. In addition to the €18 million that is left over from the current scheme, the Ministry of EZK is making an additional €42 million available in subsidy budget for this.

Subsidy budget and extension Value increase

The Ministry of Economic Affairs previously made an extra subsidy budget available for the current Value Increase Scheme. The subsidy budget was increased by €75 million in June 2022. With the publication of the above letter to Parliament, it is known what the future of the Value Increase Scheme looks like.

From 1 June 2023, the Value Increase Scheme will continue in modified form. Applications from residents who submit a damage report after 1 June 2023 will be assessed under the new conditions. From then on, the scheme is only intended for residents who have to wait more than a year for a damage decision from the Groningen Mining Damage Institute (IMG).
