At the Olympic Games, biathlete Sturla Holm Lægreid confessed his infidelity. His personal conclusion about last winter is positive.
Sturla Holm Lægreid drew his personal conclusions about the past winter after the biathlon season finale in Oslo. “I feel like I’ve found myself again through everything that’s happened,” Lægreid told Norwegian public broadcaster NRK.
Shortly after, he added: “I would say that I came out stronger from everything I’ve been through.”
Lægreid is particularly remembered for an interview he gave during the Olympic Games. In it he confessed to an affair. The person who was betrayed was “the love of my life,” but whom he had only met six months before.
However, it was not only an eventful year for Lægreid emotionally, but also in terms of sport. By Christmas, the designated successor to Norway’s record world champion Johannes Thingnes Bø had not yet achieved a single podium place in the individual World Cup rankings.
He even celebrated his first victories after the Olympic Games. Nevertheless, he was so successful in these weeks that he was able to secure second place in the overall ranking behind the Frenchman Éric Perrot at the World Cup final in Oslo on Holmenkollen with two wins in three races.
“A lot has happened, so it will be something special to have a little break to process all the impressions,” announced the 29-year-old, who has now understood that there are more important things besides biathlon. According to Lægreid’s teammate Sjåstad Christiansen, these are particularly music, space and Pokémon.
