The students suffered a hangover even before they could throw themselves into the King’s Night. In the remainder of an abandoned game earlier this month, they got three and therefore went 3-0 on the beet bridge.
For Musselkanaal it was another important victory to avoid the playoffs against relegation.
Referee injury
The duel in Musselkanaal was stopped earlier on April 2 just before half-time because the referee was unable to continue due to an injury. That made for a somewhat different start to the remainder of the game. ,,We started with a throw-in in the 44th minute. After some injury time, the first half was over after four minutes, haha”, trainer Wessel Woortman explained.
After a short break, Musselkanaal struck in the second half. Demy te Velde opened the score, Jordy Oost added a second and once again Te Velde set the final score at 3-0.
Mussel Canal not yet safe
Important points for Musselkanaal, because after this victory and a 1-0 victory last Sunday at SC Stadspark, they are now above the line. But they are certainly not safe yet. “Because of the reinforced relegation scheme, the number eight is only safe. Quite a shame, because we are actually having a great season for a PhD candidate. On Sunday we will meet another direct competitor with ASVB. If we continue like this, we will still be playing for a period title, haha”, a good-natured Woortman concludes jokingly
