“We want to support Ukraine by hanging drawings in Bruges,” says Eve. Norah adds: “We also have students who have family there. We want to encourage everyone to help.”

Taking care of students in Bruges

The students of the Kunsthumaniora in Bruges have made hundreds of drawings and they hang them on facades and trees. It is above all an expressive way to make clear what is going on with them. “The conversation about the war has been discussed in class several times, we are working on it a lot,” says Zarah.

The students also hand out sunflower seeds. “For the Ukrainians, that’s a symbol. They have a lot of them in their country, so it’s a special sign,” says Moana. Yesterday, several schools from Bruges and Blankenberge met to see if they can draw up a bigger plan to receive students from Ukraine in the coming weeks.
