Students are chained before the Government Delegation against the ruling of the TSJC on 25%

A group of a hundred students have been planted this Monday before the Government Delegation in Barcelona in protest against the ruling of the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) which requires 25% of classes to be taught in Spanish in all schools in Catalonia within 15 days. Four of the youths have chained themselves to the doors of the building in an action organized by the Union of Students of the Catalan Countries (SEPC) and by the Coordinator of Interuniversity Assemblies (IAC). “We stand in defense of public education and fully in Catalan, because it is still legitimate and necessary,” they have pointed out.

“A model of language immersion that ensures and shields the social use of Catalan. If we do not learn in Catalan, this language will cease to be used in the rest of the areas of our lives”, they have argued. The SEPC has charged against ERC without explicitly mentioning this training, alluding to the agreements with the Spanish Government: “The same who claim to fight for Catalan engage in politics by agreeing with Spanishism, condemning our language to disappearance. You are not worthy of our language or our people!”

The students accuse the State of being “the real culprit” in the Catalan situation and warn that they will not obey “the impositions of the State”, among them the judgment of the TSJC. “Only from the organization can we guarantee the future that our language needs. Let’s disobey!” They have cried.
