Valkenburg Christmas market starts: mulled wine and fun, but also extra safety measures
The Christmas market madness has officially started in Valkenburg, because the largest Christmas market in the Netherlands opens its doors today. While several events in Germany are canceled due to an increased terrorist threat, the party in Limburg continues as usual, although extra security measures have been taken to give visitors a feeling of safety. The atmospheric caves are filled with lights and Christmas items, but visitors also see clearly more security guards walking around this year. In News of the Day, reporter Jasmine van Dijk visits the market and speaks to visitors, exhibitors and security guards about whether safety concerns can affect the fun for everyone present: ‘I wish peace on earth this Christmas’.
