Finland’s former visa representative comments on the use of fur.

Erika Vikman supports animal rights. Atte Kajova

Singer Erika Vikman takes a stand on fur farming in her Instagram stories. Stories are displayed 24 hours after publication.

– I have always felt a strong connection with animals and I intend to defend animal rights always. These recent discussions make me think about what things I could improve in my own habits and everyday choices, the singer writes.

Vikman hopes that Finland will stop fur farming in the near future.

– I hope that the problems of power production will be addressed and the reality will be shown. I wish people would realize their own monstrosity.

Erika Vikman represented Finland at Eurovision last year with the song Ich Komme. Elle Laitila

The discussion about furs came to the fore at Easter, when violinist Linda Lampenius received criticism after appearing in a fur coat in a social media photo. However, Lampenius, representing Finland in Eurovision, wrote on social media that it was fake fur.

The violinist got into a tough conversation with animal philosopher Elisa Aaltola on Instagram on Sunday.

In his writing, Vikman refers to the discussion around Lampenius.

– I also hope that if a person makes a mistake, the conversation would remain factual and constructive and such that we spread awareness of how we can influence the inhumane treatment of animals with our own choices, Vikman writes.
