For the women, Anne Luijten and Elizeba Franken-Cherono will compete with international top players such as Haven Hailu, Sarah Lahti and Balemelay Shumet. Luijten became Dutch champion in the marathon in 2024 (2 hours, 28 minutes and 47 seconds) and also completed the Olympic marathon in Paris.

Return of former winners

During the 50th edition of the half marathon in Egmond, former winners Kamiel Maase, Marja Bak-Wokke, Ayele Abshero and Hailu return. Maase and Bak-Wokke will give the starting signal for the men and women, after which Abshero himself will participate in the women’s event.

Maase was the last Dutch winner of the half marathon in 2008, before Nieuweboer succeeded him after sixteen years. Bak-Wokke won the half marathon four years in a row: from 1978 to 1981 and was the first woman to break the 1 hour and 20 minute barrier in 1978.
