Strip clubs and “coffee girls” caused a scandal: Kaarle Kustaa was irritated by the handling of the commotion on TV – “So what?”

Kaarle Kustaa doesn’t want to dwell on the past.

– I can’t tell you what happened, because I still don’t really understand it, Kaarle Kustaa refers to the commotion 13 years ago in the documentary. All Over Press

Kaarle Kustaa would not like to say a word about the 2010 scandal.

It was a horror book Den motvilige monarken A tidal wave raised by the (Reluctant Monarch). On its pages, it was claimed that the King of Sweden had visited strip clubs abroad and that he had a mistress. Kaarle Kustaa was called worldwide the king of scandals, such as Karle XVI Gustav 50 years in power is reminded in the document.

The king denied the allegations in a fresh way, but not very convincingly in the opinion of the Swedes. Among the suspects is Karin Af Klintberg, the director of the documentary series we are now watching. He reveals his position while interviewing the king.

– It’s unnecessary to worry about the old. It’s no joy for anyone. It’s more fun to talk about the future, the king acknowledges.

He still denies the accusations from 13 years ago and talks about the manhunt against him.

Kaarle Kustaa says that the scandal was a difficult experience. He still did not seek professional help. – I’m not going to lie on the psychologist’s couch, he says in the documentary. All Over Press

The king does not appreciate all the other questions of the director. They are related to the so-called coffee girls. They were called young, ordinary women who entertained upper-class, older and privileged gentlemen. Af Klintberg wants to know if the king thought the arrangement was equal. Kaarle Kustaa doesn’t even try to hide his amusement and irritation.

– Equal? Excuse me? she laughs out loud.

Af Klintberg gives the background to his question by bringing up the aftermath of the Me too movement. The king snorts with contempt.

– I think it’s a strange distortion of the occasion.

When the director then asks the king to describe the occasion in his own words, he answers sharply:

– You seemed to know better!

Karin Af Klintberg followed Kaarle Kustaa’s life at close range for a couple of years for her documentary. Over

Af Klintberg assures that he does not know better, but only asks questions. His intention is not to accuse.

– I’ll try to explain, the king pleads, after which a long silence descends.

– Have you run out of momentum now? the king asks Af Klintberg again, amused.
