Striker Uth is missing until further notice

Offensive player Mark Uth is facing another unpleasant chapter in his long injury history at Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln.

The 32-year-old suffered a knee injury in the test against Rot Weiss Essen (4:4) on Saturday. The club confirmed this on Sunday after an MRI scan, without giving a more precise diagnosis. Uth will now “take a break for now”.

The Cologne native, potentially a key player at relegation-threatened FC, has had to sit out again and again since the start of the 2022/23 season.

In particular, problems with his pubic bone caused him constant problems and required operations; after the long break, muscular problems also slowed him down this season.

Probably for reasons of load management, Uth has only played a little recently, even when he was in the squad. In the first test under new coach Timo Schultz against third division team Essen, he was allowed to play from the start and had to leave the field after about half an hour.
