Strike at Charleroi airport averted after agreement on purchasing power premium | Domestic

The management and trade unions of Charleroi airport have reached an agreement on a purchasing power premium, Yves Lambot, secretary of the Christian employee union CNE, confirms. This means that the threat of strikes at Hainaut airport is normally over.

The Common Trade Union Front had filed a strike notice at Brussels South Charleroi Airport (BSCA) last week. According to the unions, management had gone back on a promise to give all employees a purchasing power premium of 750 euros, after turnover more than doubled last year to 92 million euros and profits were again booked. The management subsequently indicated that it wanted to adjust the premium based on part-time work and absenteeism.

Management and unions have now reached an agreement, Lambot confirmed after reports from the French-language public broadcaster RTBF. The premium will be paid in full to 85 percent of the staff. The remaining 15 percent concerns employees who were absent for more than four and a half months between December 2022 and August 2023.
