Stricter European rules for tattoo ink take effect today

As of today, new restrictions apply within the European Union on the use of hazardous chemicals in tattoo ink and permanent make-up. This has been announced by the European Commission. The new rules apply to more than 4,000 chemical substances. These include substances that can cause cancer or genetic mutations or that can be irritating to the skin or eyes. For example, the disinfectant isopropanol is banned.
