A 29-year-old man from Eindhoven has to appear in court for reckless driving. The motorcyclist himself shared images of himself making wheelies, driving on the sidewalk and speeding through built-up areas at speeds of more than 200 kilometers per hour. He posted the videos on social media. The police confiscated his motorcycle.
“These images have been viewed many thousands of times,” officers wrote on social media on Tuesday evening. “They gave the impression that the roads in Eindhoven are a free state where this driving behavior is possible and allowed.”
Digital research
The police then started a digital investigation and came across several videos showing serious traffic violations. This shows how the road pirate street races, drives at high speed over sidewalks and rushes through built-up areas at more than 200 kilometers per hour.
Dangerous wheelies on public roads, overtaking on the right and driving past road workers at high speed are also among the violations that officers found online.
The man’s lightning-fast Ducati motorcycle has been seized, as has his recording equipment.
Motor auctioned
He has also lost his driver’s license for six months. The 29-year-old motor mouse must also answer to the judge. The CBR is starting an investigation to determine whether he is still fit to drive a motorcycle.
“I’m an ordinary guy who wants to make people happy with motorcycle videos,” writes the man, better known on social media as 4op2vlogs. In a post he confirms that his motorcycle, phone, laptop and camera have been confiscated. He also states that the Ducati from his vlogs has now been auctioned by the police.
The motorcyclist has started a crowdfunding campaign for the costs of his motorcycle. “Apparently they can enter your house because you make vlogs,” he writes. “If you think it is nonsense that a normal boy is treated so harshly, then you are free to support me.”
The motorcyclist has now received 1,485 euros in donations. On his account you can read that the Eindhoven resident started vlogs this year.
Traffic fatalities
Officers emphasize that Brabant was also the leader last year, for the umpteenth year in a row, when it comes to the number of traffic fatalities. “That is why we are working hard to reduce this number. Such driving behavior will not be tolerated,” the police said.
