Streaming giant Netflix wants to further expand its gaming division. In 2023 alone, 40 new games are to come. And there are also big plans for the time after that.

Netflix has been at the forefront of streaming services for years. The US provider has not only established and shaped streaming with its platform. Above all, the service’s own content continues to set standards to this day. For some time now, Netflix has also wanted to establish itself in the games sector. You can currently play over 50 titles for mobile devices free of charge. Netflix now wants to expand this model even further.

40 New Netflix Games 2023

In a press release Netflix now gave more detailed insights into its plans for the games sector. The notification states, among other things:

This year we will continue to expand our portfolio – and that means new games every month. Members will discover indie favorites, award-winning hits, role-playing games, narrative adventures, puzzle games and everything in between, and we work with the world’s leading studios to bring these games to you.

Netflix

So Netflix plans to release new games monthly. In order to cope with this, around 40 new titles should come onto the platform in 2023 alone. However, one remains true to the concept of serving only users of mobile devices. PC players can also access the games, but you need an emulator to do so.

Some of the titles that have been announced sound quite promising. Netflix is working with gaming giant Ubisoft, among others – TECHBOOK reported. The first of a total of three games from this collaboration has been available to play since January: “Valiant Hearts: Coming Home”. Mighty Queen: Rogue Palace will also be released on April 18th.

Further plans in the games area

Beyond 2023, Netflix will probably also be working on numerous other games. A total of 86 titles are already being planned and developed. 70 of them come from partner studios such as Ubisoft, 16 games come from the in-house studios.

Next year, among other things, the well-known “Monument Valley” franchise from developer Ustwo is to come to Netflix, with both part 1 and part 2. Other branches are to follow. An “Assassin’s Creed” mobile game is also planned with Ubisoft. Nothing is known about its release yet.

The self-produced series and films are likely to be an important building block, as they have been in the past. The Too Hot To Handle game, which premiered on Netflix at the start of Season 4, was a huge hit for the service. Netflix should therefore continue to build on this successful concept in the future and thus further promote the link between streaming and gaming.
