Stranger Things Star Noah Schnapp on Being Gay: ‘I’m More Like Will Byers Than I Thought’

Noah Schnapp (18) plays the character Will Byers in the series “Stranger Things”. The actor published a video on Tik Tok on January 5, 2023, in which he officially came out. It’s accompanied by an audio track of a female voice saying, “You know what it never was? Really seriously.” The overlay reveals that he had been afraid to come out for many years, and the way friends and family responded to his coming out: “We knew it.”

Schnapp captioned the video with laconic humor. “Looks like I’m more like Will than I thought.” He’s referring to the character Will Byers, who also – and more implicitly – declared himself gay in the fourth season of the Netflix production. He received consistently positive feedback from fans for his step.

Noah Schnapp has been part of the cast since the first season of Stranger Things aired in 2016. In the summer of 2022, Netflix released the fourth season of the hit series. The fifth and final season has already been announced and is already being produced, but will not be released until 2024 at the earliest.
