“Stranger Things”: Production on the fifth season has begun

The cast got back together to film the final episodes. There’s more information here.

The last episode of the fourth season of the Netflix series “Stranger Things” was released in May 2022. Afterwards, fans asked themselves: When would the series, which started in 2016, continue? Recently, rumors of a delayed start date for the fifth and final season have been making the rounds. The reason for this was the writers’ strike in Hollywood, which caused the industry to pause for 148 days in July 2023. The industry estimates that filming will not continue until 2025 at the earliest. But now there is concrete news about the production of the new episodes.

Netflix has now announced that work has already resumed. The entire cast also appears together in an Instagram post and says: “This is Code Red. Production on ‘Stringer Things 5’ has officially begun!!!” There is currently no specific start date to announce.

More new additions?

In addition to the already known “Stranger Things” characters, there will probably also be some new additions in the coming episodes. A newly joined actress has been known since mid-June 2023: Netflix was able to recruit Linda Hamilton to the cast. The 66-year-old actress became known for her role as Sarah Connor in the “Terminator” films.

No other new cast members have been made official yet. Information about the plot of the finale is also scarce. It is only clear that the fifth season is supposed to seal the fate of all Hawkins residents. The press release also states that the following questions should be clarified: “Where is Vecna? What happens to Max? And is the Upside Down now spreading around the world?”

Spin-off planned

The series creators Matt and Ross Duffer told “Variety” that a spin-off of the series was planned after the series ended: “We have an idea for a spin-off that we are excited about, but we haven’t told anyone about the idea yet. let alone written down.” The two think everyone, “including Netflix, will be surprised when they hear the concept.”
