Millie Bobby Brown and Noah Schnapp warned the Duffer brothers of a consequence-free “Stranger Things” finale in 2022. Fans criticize the lack of height.
“Stranger Things” has now come to an end after ten years. On January 1, 2026, the Netflix hit said goodbye with the eighth episode of the fifth season. Since then, the finale has been hotly debated among fans, with differing opinions.
For the most part, the voices from the fan camp are positive, and most fans of the series are satisfied. However, there are also critical opinions: Some fans are not satisfied with the outcome of the story about Eleven, Will and Co. There is always talk of gaps in logic and incomprehensible decisions made by the characters.
One point of criticism that is repeatedly mentioned is the lack of consistency in the fifth season. Translated, this means: No important characters die, and there is no emotional fall for the fans. In fact, two of the series’ main stars warned about this very fact years before.
Stars warned as early as 2022
Two of the main actors, Millie Bobby Brown and Noah Schnapp, warned the Duffer brothers in May 2022 about their lack of courage. At that time, on the occasion of the finale of the fourth season of the mystery series, they gave an interview to the YouTube channel “The Wrapped” to talk about it.
Both main actors were very sure about one point at the time: for a rousing finale, important characters would have to die in order to create the already mentioned emotional height for the fans. “One of us will die,” said Noah Schnapp with conviction. Millie Bobby Brown found even more specific words and addressed the Duffer brothers directly: “100 percent. They have to kill some people, the finale is so big. The Duffer brothers are two sensitive guys who don’t want to kill anyone. But we have to be like ‘Game of Thrones’. We have to have the mentality of ‘Game of Thrones’. Just kill me! They tried to kill David Harbor and then brought him back. That’s ridiculous.”
As is well known, nothing came of the death of important characters, which some fans are now blaming on the makers. The Eleven actress partially meets with agreement with her statements from three years ago. The debate surrounding the conclusion of the series is likely to last a little longer, as there is also a lot of discussion about whether Eleven actually survived or not.
