The “dynamic, interactive” exhibition including an audio guide by Nick Cave can now be experienced.

A look into Nick Cave’s creative way of thinking – that’s exactly what the “Stranger Than Kindness: The Nick Cave Exhibition” was supposed to be about, which opened in Copenhagen in 2020 and opened its doors to those interested in Montreal, Canada, in 2022. Now there is also the opportunity to immerse yourself in the work of the member of The Bad Seeds online.

Editorial recommendations

What to expect? According to the description, the exhibition reveals: “With full-color reproductions of original artworks, handwritten song lyrics, photographs and collected personal artifacts, it presents Cave’s life, work and inspiration and explores his many universes, real and imagined.” And online there is now talk of a “dynamic, interactive online experience”.

More than 300 objects to examine

What’s also added digitally is an audio guide from Cave, which was created in a talk with co-curator Christina Back. The audio guide will accompany you through the exhibition, which includes over 300 objects and through which onlookers can navigate freely.

Artworks from over six decades can be seen collected as part of the “Stranger Than Kindness: The Virtual Nick Cave Exhibition”. This should be made possible by high-resolution 3D models of the originals. What emerges in the voice, art in 3D combo is, according to the statement, “a deeper engagement with the original content, including extensive archival and newly created materials such as photographs, letters, artwork, objects, installations, audio and video.”

Soundscapes by Warren Ellis

In addition to the Australian’s voice, there are also soundscapes created by Bad Seeds colleague Warren Ellis.

Anyone who would like to get their own impression of the virtual exhibition can do so via this link here do. Entry to the lineup of Nick Cave’s creative output is free via this website.
