André van Duin is completely done with the practices of Meta, Facebook’s parent company. He believes that the American media giant is acting scandalously. “Stop it!”

There is currently a lot of controversy in our country about Facebook, because the media giant does not do much about the many fake news circulating on the social medium. Many celebrities in particular are victims of this. Fake articles claim that they have died, purely in hope clicks and thus advertising revenue. Insane of course.

Inevitable

André van Duin is also one of the victims. “It’s actually inevitable. There’s very little you can do about it unless everyone unites and actively contacts Meta,” his manager told the newspaper. A.D.

A photo of André lying in a hospital bed is circulating on various pages. He’s said to be in critical condition, which is nonsense. “Of course this is bad: it is pure misinformation and images are used that are not intended for that purpose at all. Then I think: stop doing that.”

No time

André himself does not have time to make a case out of every incorrect message. “André is not personally bothered by it, but he does find it annoying.”

The manager continues: “Meta seems to mainly think from a revenue model; they will also be concerned about what is published. As for André: he will not go to the barricades for this.”

Henny isn’t dead either

Henny Huisman is also annoyed by it. “I was on Bonaire when one of my grandchildren had to wake me up. A still was taken from it, showing me lying in bed, and it was then used as if I were dead,” he says in the newspaper.

“That fragment is being misused for those nonsense stories. Besides being sickening, it is also unconscionable. They are not only messing with you, but also with your family. They have no idea what they are doing.”

Condolences

It is unprecedented, says Henny. “Acquaintances who had not seen me for a while even started to offer their condolences to my manager. Isn’t that incomprehensible? I really don’t understand why Facebook and Google are not taking action against this. Of course you can’t check everything, but an obituary seems like a limit to me.”

“Soon I’ll really be dead and no one will believe it anymore. This is really starting to get out of hand. I’m glad my mother doesn’t have to go through this anymore.”
