D11 archaeological finds of exquisite workmanship they were delivered by the Carabinieri Unit for the Protection of the Cultural Heritage of Venice to the Royal Museums of Turin and to the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the metropolitan city of Venice.
Among the returned goods is a “mask crater” in Apulian red-figure ceramic, with white and yellow overpaintings, dating back to the 4th century BC, 150 centimeters high, among the largest examples known so far.
The investigations, directed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Venice, were started in a Venetian palace subject to monumental restrictions, inspected by the Venetian Superintendence.
Following local searches in Venice and Turin in a home and in a business in the sectorthe assets were discovered and seized. These are most likely finds from clandestine excavations in funerary archaeological contexts. Source: us carabinieri (NPK)
