There have been plans to build almost 200,000 homes in North Holland for two years now, but progress has not really been made. That is why involved parties from the construction and residential world met recently and it emerged that in addition to a shortage of money, the strict rules for new construction are also throwing a spanner in the works. Unnecessary rules, according to the minister.

For example, the same rules will now apply to the entire country, which will speed up construction. Restrictive rules will expire throughout the Schiphol region. She will explain what that will look like this afternoon at a national Housing Summit. To indicate the priority that the cabinet gives to the housing shortage, Prime Minister Dick Schoof will also be present.

25,000 new student homes

Keijzer indicates today that thanks to the new rules, she has achieved breakthroughs in Lisserbroek, Nieuw-Vennep West and Lansingerland. That concerns thousands of new houses. The collaborating parties will also ensure the rapid construction of 25,000 student homes throughout the country, they promise.
