Stijn Slump from Havelte in Antalya final, Niels Visker from Lageland wins doubles tournament in Kazakhstan

Tennis player Stijn Slump (25) from Havelte is in the final of the clay tournament in Antalya on Sunday and Niels Visker (22) triumphed in the doubles tournament in Aktobe, Kazakhstan.

Slump (ATP-1072) will be in a final of a professional tennis tournament for the second time in his tennis career on Sunday. In August 2022, Drent lost the final of the ITF tournament with a prize of 15,000 dollars to the Belgian Lambermont.

On the clay of Antalya, Turkey, Slump won on Saturday in the semi-finals against Spaniard Max Alcala Gurri (ATP-694). Bulgarian talent Yanaki Milev (19), number 552 in the ATP world rankings, awaits the final on Sunday.

Slump to global top 1000 for the first time

Thanks to his final place and good results in recent weeks, Slump has risen to a place among the best 1000 tennis players in the world for the first time in his career. Well in fact, because he is now fictionally in position 920.

Niels Visker did well on the hard court of Aktobe, Kazakhstan. The 22-year-old Groningen from Lageland reached the semi-finals of the ITF tournament there in singles and won the doubles tournament. On Saturday morning, Visker and his Russian partner Pavel Verbin were too strong for two other Russians, Allaksandr Liaonenka and Alexander Zgirovsky: 7-6, 6-3.

Fourth professional title Visker

It is the fourth professional title in doubles for Visker, who rose to 650 in the world rankings thanks to his semi-final place in Aktobe in singles. That is his highest position ever.
