Stewards reject protests against Verstappen and Pérez | 1Limburg

Formula 1 race officials have rejected Ferrari’s protests against the two Red Bulls of Sergio Pérez and Max Verstappen.

The victory of the Monaco Grand Prix therefore remains in the hands of Pérez. Verstappen remains number 3. With his third place, the reigning world champion increased his lead over Charles Leclerc, who had finished fourth, to 9 points.

Tire change
Ferrari had filed a protest because, according to the Italian racing stable, the two drivers would not have returned to the track according to the rules after a tire change. Pérez and Verstappen would have crossed the solid yellow line when leaving the pit lane.

Conclusion
After hearing the teams involved and after viewing the images, the stewards concluded that Verstappen’s car had not crossed the line. “To say that there should have been a full wheel on the left side of the yellow line,” the stewards said. That was not the case.

In Pérez’s case, Ferrari admitted during the hearing itself that no part of Pérez’s wheels had crossed the yellow line and that the protest was therefore unfounded.
