Steverink made a spicy transition from VOC to Venlo

After playing for VOC for one season, handball player Romé Steverink makes the switch to competitor Venlo. The right corner player won the national title last season at the expense of her new employer with VOC.

Venlo will already be the fourth club for the only 20-year-old Steverink. The 51-time youth international started playing handball at Kwiek in Raalte and made the switch to VZV from ‘t Veld in North Holland when she was eighteen. After one year she was already picked up by top club VOC. With the Amsterdam formation, she won the national title last season.

Steverink says on the website of her new club that she will combine handball with a new study in Nijmegen. “A few weeks ago, Venlo crossed my path and they give me the opportunity to develop further as a handball player and to find the balance between my studies in Business Administration at Radboud University and top sport,” says Steverink.

European Cup

Steverink will also play European handball with her new club Venlo. VOC previously announced that it would refrain from a European adventure because of the high costs associated with this. Steverink: “I especially hope to be able to add extra value to the team with my speed. I think it would be great to be able to play in Europe with Venlo this year and to compete for the national prizes.”
