Steven Van Gucht: “Epidemic seems to be accelerating. This week probably three times above the milestone of 60,000 new cases per day”

The fifth corona wave is rolling over the country and the peak is not yet in sight. This is what virologist Steven Van Gucht said at the Crisis Center’s weekly briefing. What’s more, the epidemic seems to be accelerating even further for the time being. “On Monday we recorded a record of almost 62.00 infections. Tuesday and Wednesday we will probably also register more than 60,000 infections per day,” it said.
