Stephanie Venier was one of the best ski racers and became world champion that year. She then ended her career – and presented her baby bump.

This year Stephanie Venier was crowned world champion in Super-G. The 31-year-old is watching the season, which has just started a few weeks ago, on television for the first time. The ski racer, who ended her sporting career in August, is pregnant. She and ex-ski ace Christian Walder are becoming parents. Venier proudly shared her baby bump on Instagram.

In a snapshot you can see the Austrian ex-ski racer with a bare baby bump posing in front of the camera in a purple sports outfit. In her right hand she holds a turquoise blue ski inscribed with the brand logo “Head”. The former athlete smiles confidently into the camera.

She wrote about the photo: “Our little miracle is growing. And so is our love. We’re counting the days until we see each other.” Venier posted a red heart alongside the sentences. Numerous colleagues from the industry commented on the post. US star Lindsey Vonn also commented with two red hearts, for which Venier thanked again.

Venier surprisingly announced the end of her career at the beginning of August. The world champion and Walder announced at the end of August that they were becoming parents. The winter sports couple married at the beginning of September. Walder also announced the end of his career in October.

At the end of her sporting career, Venier said in the “Kleine Zeitung”: “I didn’t resign because I’m pregnant. We’re really happy. It was our big wish during my career – it’s even nicer that it’s worked out now.”
