Stellantis president John Elkann will go to Parliament. Several deputies and senators had asked the number 1 of the Italian-French-American auto group to intervene in Parliament after the resignation of CEO Carlos Tavares. Elkann, according to a company note, had “a cordial telephone conversation” with the president of the Chamber of Deputies Lorenzo Fontana. John Elkann informed President Fontana of his participation in the hearing in Parliament regarding the invitation received, in full respect and coherence with what had been decided by the Montecitorio assembly last November 16th – through two approved motions – and by virtue of the closing of the Stellantis round table concluded at the Ministry for Business and Made in Italy (Mimit). President Elkann will intervene in the competent commissions that submitted the request regarding the evolution of the automotive sector in Europe and Italy.

The conversation between Elkann and Fontana, however, as mentioned, comes the day after the presentation of Stellantis’ “Italy plan” at Mimit in which the company announced its own investments in Italian factories for two billion. According to Jean Philippe Learnato who participated in the meeting at Palazzo Piacentini, the group aims to keep “all the sites in the country active, with approximately 2 billion euros of investments for 2025 in the factories in Italy and 6 billion euros in the same period in purchases from suppliers operating in Italy”.
