The difficulties caused by the situation in Ukraine will not bypass the people of Germany. About it declared German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the concert “For Peace and Freedom”, which took place at his residence on March 27.

“Difficult days await us in Germany. Days that change the world and us, maybe even faster than we thought possible. There are still many challenges ahead of us. Despite all diplomatic efforts , our solidarity and our support, our resilience and our readiness for restrictions will be needed for a long time to come,” the President said.

After Russia launched a special operation in Ukraine, Germany joined the anti-Russian sanctions. In general, since the end of February, the European Union has introduced four packages of sanctions against Russia, which affected the assets and reserves of the Russian Central Bank, a number of banks, the export of technological products, the supply of aircraft and aircraft parts, as well as access to European financial markets. The European Union also imposed personal sanctions against Russian businessmen, top managers of companies, politicians, military officials, officials and media workers.

This week it became known that Germany intends to halve the import of Russian oil. The country intends to do it by the summer. In the coming months, it is planned to reduce dependence on Russian oil by 25%, by the middle of the year – by 50%. Russia believes that in the coming years Europe will have nothing to replace Russian gas. As Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated, the EU’s complete rejection of Russian energy carriers is an “apocalyptic scenario.”
Commenting on Europe’s plans to refuse Russian oil supplies, Novak warned that in this case, world prices could jump to $300 per barrel.
