Statement of the day | Only Arjen Robben can pull FC Groningen out of the valley

FC Groningen fired trainer Frank Wormuth on Monday morning. According to the club, there is ‘insufficient support’ to continue with the German trainer. The big question now is: who will be his successor?

Wormuth’s resignation had been in the air for some time. Groningen won only three of the fourteen league games and had to take the eighth defeat against Fortuna Sittard deep in injury time.

Who should succeed Frank Wormuth? Ronald Koeman? Erwin Koeman? Danny Buijs? Joe Gall?

Arjen Robben back at FC Groningen?

And can Arjen Robben do something for the club?

He said in an interview last September Newspaper of the North : ,,I am not going to express the ambition ‘in five years you will see me again as head coach or as technical director’. Maybe I’ll be a manager at a supermarket. It can still go either way.”

Robben does not yet have the necessary papers, so a position as head coach is not possible at the moment. Would you like to see the Groninger in the role of assistant? Or as a technical advisor?
