Statement of the day | Glad there are vegan variants of traditional meat dishes

Very slowly it starts: the rise of the vegan kebab. Most snack shops are not a nice place for vegetarians and vegans, but that is slowly changing. Good thing?

Bektas Kablan is standing in his kebab shop when he wonders: how many chickens are actually on this skewer? (Answer: about forty.) ‘I found that difficult. I love animals.’

A year later, the first vegan kebab (with vegan garlic sauce) in Groningen is a fact. Meanwhile, with the vegan frikandel rolls, hot dogs, bitterballen and satay, more and more plant-based snacks are available at the snack bar.

If it becomes a success, Kablan hopes to remove meat from the menu altogether. And there are more restaurants who tend to it. Are you happy with that? Or do you fear this development? And why? Comment below on the statement of the day.
