Statement of the day: A 4 day work week is long enough

A construction company in Joure has abolished the five-day working week. Employees work four days as standard. If they work overtime, they earn 200% of their regular salary.

It concerns Frame Services. They sell and install (yes) frames and it is difficult to find professionals in this industry. That’s why they came up with a trick: 1 day extra weekend at the expense of the boss.

That boss is called Maurice Kok and he copied it from others. An experiment has already been carried out in Iceland. 2500 employees started working less for the same salary. What turned out? They produced as much or even more than during a five-day work week.

Roy van Neerdern (40) works for Window Services. He worked six days a week with his previous boss, says the window fitter. “That destroys you. You’re tired, you’re going to make mistakes.”

What do you think? Is introducing a four-day work week a good idea? Respond to the statement: it is right that you should live in the house you buy
