State Secretary Zolt Szabó visits Aruba and Curaçao from 8 to 11 April. The working visit is dominated by the introduction to the new government of Aruba, the Governor Consultation on Curaçao and conducting conversations on the themes of good governance and entrepreneurship.
Aruba
The working visit starts on Tuesday 8 April in Aruba. Szabó meets, among other things, the ministers of the new cabinet, led by Mike Eman, which was recently taken on. In addition to a conversation with the new ministerial team, the Dutch minister speaks with members of the Aruban Parliament.
The visit to Aruba is also dominated by good governance. For example, Mr. Szabó attends a lecture at the University of Aruba at Van Mieke de Droog, program director of the Aruban Institute for Good Governance and Leadership. On the campus he participates in an interactive question session with students.
In addition to good governance and solid finance, economic self -reliance is one of the spearheads of Szabó. In Aruba he therefore performs the opening of the new branch of technical installation company Pro-TEC. The company has recently been taken over by the Dutch firm of Dorp and specializes in cooling buildings by using seawater.
Curacao
On Curaçao, the State Secretary will participate in this year’s first Government Consultation on 9 April. This biennial consultation with the governors of Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten takes place in the Netherlands or in one of the Caribbean countries.
Szabó speaks in Curaçao with Prime Minister Gilmar ‘Pik’ Pisas and meets representatives of ‘Kòrsou Transparente’. This foundation is concerned with preventing and combating non -honest behavior and corruption in Curaçao.
On Thursday, April 10, Szabó will speak with Anouschka Cova, director of the Curaçao Hospitality and Tourism Association (Chata) and with Miles Mercera, director of Cinex, the Curaçao Investment & Export Promotion Agency. Both conversations are about economic development on the island.
At the American consulate in Willemstad, Mr. Szabó has a meeting with the new Consul General Ramón Negrón. Szabó also speaks in the context of good governance and the approach to undermining, including the Investigation Team (RST) and Attorney General Guillano Schoop.
On Friday, April 11, Mr. Szabó visits, together with the Curaçao Minister of Finance Silvania, the customs in the port of Curaçao. In addition, he is informed at Hato airport about border surveillance by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee. Finally, the State Secretary is in line with part of the consultations of the authorities of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba that takes place in Curaçao.
