Today the go -ahead was given for the explorations for keeping and making the west side of the Brainport region. Directors from the region, together with the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management Barry Madlener, did this during a working visit to the Brainport Industries Campus in Eindhoven.

Minister Madlener: “Brainport region Eindhoven is an important technology region with economic top locations on the west side of the region. The number of jobs and homes is growing fast in the coming years. Good infrastructure is going on economic top locations. I am going to do my utmost to ensure that the region becomes more accessible for both the business life and the people who live here.”

The Brainport region is an important economic region for the Netherlands and it is not for nothing that one of our mainports. Rich and region have made agreements in the Beethoven covenant. For mobility, a total of one billion euros in measures has been agreed in the Beethoven covenant. 503 million euros of this is intended for tackling the A2/N2, including the Brainport line and northwestern access to the Brainport region. This makes the region more accessible via both the car and by public transport.

An important step is the start of an integral MIRT exploration to the A2/N2, a brainport line and the northwestern access. Together with aldermen from Eindhoven, Veldhoven, Best, Oirschot and the deputy of the province of Noord-Brabant, the minister marked the start of these explorations.

Alderman Robert Strijk of the municipality of Eindhoven: “The Campus development around ASML is of great importance for the Dutch and European economy. It is therefore good and important that we work together with Rijk, Province and Region to make this innovation cluster in Eindhoven sustainably accessible.”

Alderman Jeroen Rooijakkers from the municipality of Veldhoven: “These explorations are important so that we not only keep the economic top locations accessible, but also to connect them with each other and with the Brainporthubs and station. Best together with pride in a future -proof region in which smart mobility, innovation and quality of life go hand in hand.”

The MIRT exploration to the A2/N2 has now formally started. The expectation is that a preferred decision will be made at the end of 2026. To be able to make this preferred decision, it is necessary that the regional explorations are then completed. The expectation is that this is the case.
