According to media reports, FC Bayern was rebuffed with an offer for Gladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer. Nevertheless, the Swiss should still be at the top of the wish list in Munich – also with the players of the record champions.

As the TV broadcaster “Sky” reports, the leading players in FC Bayern have campaigned internally for Yann Sommer to sign up. To what extent the management level of Munich around sports director Hasan Salihamidzic can respond to the wishes of the professionals is another matter.

Because: Borussia Mönchengladbach has so far vehemently opposed the sale of the important goalkeeper. Manager Roland Virkus had recently made it clear that there was no intention of giving up summer at this point in the season. “We will not give up Yann Sommer. We told Bayern that too,” said Virkus just a few days ago.

FC Bayern is running out of time

However, Yann Sommer’s contract expires at the end of the season, so he would be available on a free transfer.

According to the report, FC Bayern has so far offered a transfer fee of five million euros, but Gladbach is demanding double that. FC Bayern has not yet been discouraged by the recent cancellation, according to “Sky”. Salihamidzic and Co. probably want to continue negotiating with Borussia in order to possibly reach an agreement in the next few days.

“Bild” had previously reported that Roland Virkus’ refusal on the phone with Hasan Salihamidzic “should have sounded less definitive”.

However, with the top game against RB Leipzig on January 20th drawing ever closer, it is obvious that FC Bayern is running out of time. Should FC Bayern ultimately not be able to present a new signing, substitute Sven Ulreich will come to his assignments.
