“Star Trek” actress Jill Jacobson dies at 70

She is said to have died “after a long illness,” according to her manager.

Jill Jacobson passed away on Sunday, December 8th at the age of 70. The actress was best known for her appearances in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Who’s the Boss?

Jacobson was ill for a long time

“After a long illness,” the American passed away at the Culver West Health Center in Culver City (California). Her friend, publicist and manager Dan Harary told the Hollywood Reporter. “She will be greatly missed by many family, friends and her beloved dogs Benny and Kowalski,” Harary said. No further details about her death are known yet. Jacobson was the mother of three children and married to singer and songwriter Paul Dorman.

Jacobson appeared in 22 episodes of the CBS series “Falcon Crest” from 1985 to 1987. She also portrayed the character Larue Wilson on the ABC sitcom “The New Gidget” from 1986 to 1987. Here she also acted alongside Caryn Richman, who also commented on the passing of her former colleague, according to The Hollywood Reporter: “Jill’s comic timing was brilliant. And her enthusiasm and joy for life made our time together on set a pleasure.”

She also appeared on “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” in 1996. Her other television appearances included “Hung,” “Newhart,” “Castle,” “Quantum Leap,” and “Crazy Like a Fox.” Jacobson also had a small role in Ron Howard’s 1984 film Splash. She was also recognized for her volunteer work with the American Cancer Society.
