Rogers was diagnosed with cancer last summer. The actor had sought treatment after realizing that everything “wasn’t okay”.
Rogers underwent a colonoscopy, after which the surgeon sent him for follow-up images and a biopsy. Tests confirmed that Rogers had stage II colon cancer.
– It was a shock. I was in shock for several days, because I take pretty good care of myself, Rogers tells TV Insider.
According to the doctor, Rogers was lucky because the disease was detected in good time.
Rogers began a six-week course of treatment in June, during which he received radiation and chemotherapy five days a week.
– It was heavy. I enjoyed my weekends because then I didn’t have to see a doctor. I was tired of seeing doctors.
Rogers is best known for the soap opera Days takenin which she has played since 1973 the character of Maggie Horton. The recovery has progressed well and Rogers says he will return to work next week.
