Stadium occupancy: Bayern allows more spectators

Berlin/Munich (dpa) – FC Bayern can look forward to an atmospheric away game in the Champions League – and at home in the Free State, more fans are allowed into the stadiums again.

As Bavarian Minister of the Interior Joachim Herrmann (CSU) announced on Tuesday, the clubs may allow up to 15,000 spectators from Wednesday with a maximum occupancy rate of 50 percent. In Austria in the round of 16 game at RB Salzburg on February 16, up to 30,000 fans can be there, as the club announced.

In the meantime, Berlin and Baden-Württemberg have passed new corona regulations that correspond to the regulations laid down by the heads of the state and senate chanceries last week. From Wednesday, the clubs in Baden-Württemberg are allowed to receive up to 10,000 spectators outdoors at a maximum capacity of 50 percent in compliance with the 2G-Plus rules.

In Berlin, the previous upper limit for large outdoor events was also increased from 3,000 to 10,000 spectators. The occupancy rate of the venue may not exceed 50 percent from a spectator number of 2001. For major indoor events, there will be an upper limit of 4,000 instead of the previous 2,000 spectators. Bundesliga club 1. FC Union is allowed to play against Borussia Dortmund in front of more fans than last Sunday, Hertha BSC is playing away in Fürth.

In Saxony, RB Leipzig was already allowed to admit 15,000 visitors again on Monday. “It’s great news for us that fans are allowed into the stadium again,” said Leipzig’s Lukas Klostermann, referring to RB’s game this Friday against 1. FC Köln. “It gives back a little bit of the old football feeling. I’m also convinced that it will give us a little extra boost.”
