Stadium name remains: Eintracht Braunschweig fans collect more than 650,000 euros

“Unique Project”

Eintracht Braunschweig fans and patrons raised more than 650,000 euros in an eight-month crowdfunding campaign so that the second division stadium can continue to be called Eintracht-Stadion. “This is a project that has not only never been seen in Braunschweig, but is unique overall,” said Eintracht Managing Director Wolfram Benz of the “Braunschweiger Zeitung”.

According to the club, a total of 2,773 people have bought shares in various categories since May 2022 in order to secure the naming rights to the Eintracht Stadium until the end of the 2024/25 season. The alternative would have been to sell the naming rights to a sponsor, as is common with other clubs. The goal of the campaign was to collect 200,000 euros per year by 2025. In the end it was a total of 652,421.85 euros. The crowdfunding campaign was organized by an action alliance to which the outsourced professional football society, the club’s own fan department, the ultra scene, the fan project and the Eintracht fan council belong.

The stadium of the 1967 German champions had to be sold to the city in the 1980s for financial reasons. In 2008, five companies bought the naming rights in order to be able to rename it from “Städtisches Stadion an der Hamburger Straße” to Eintracht-Stadion. This contract expires in 2023.
