Stach staying at Mainz 05 only with Europe? Rumors about RB Leipzig

FSV ranked 7th after the series

National player Anton Stach from 1. FSV Mainz 05 would like to “play internationally” in the coming season, as he said in an interview with “Picture“ explained – he sees this as the next stage of development. “I would also like to take the next step in my career to play internationally. Conference League, Euro League, Champions League – that’s definitely an obvious goal for me,” said the 24-year-old midfielder.

Wanting to play in the European Cup does not necessarily mean that Stach will leave FSV, but it sounds like it could be a condition that he does not want to change. Depending on the outcome of the DFB Cup, seventh place could be enough. Of the semi-finalists, SC Freiburg and defending champions RB Leipzig are currently in international ranks. If one of these teams wins the pot, the seventh-placed club qualifies for the UEFA Europa Conference League. After ten games without defeat in a row, including the win against FC Bayern last weekend, Mainz are currently two points ahead of upcoming opponents VfL Wolfsburg (Sunday, 5.30 p.m.).

“Playing internationally would also be possible with Mainz 05 – of course! But first take one step at a time. I’ve always done well with it,” said Stach. “In the end, you can never say for sure that you’re staying or not. So let’s see. In any case, I feel very comfortable here in Mainz and I still have a contract.”

Anton Stach is contractually bound to Mainz 05 – interest from RB Leipzig & Co.

This contract is valid until 2024, but can be extended by one year by option. Mainz would be rewarded accordingly in the event of a transfer of their most valuable player (market value: 15 million euros). The most expensive departures in the club’s history are Abdou Diallo, 2018 for 28 million euros to BVB, and Jean-Philippe Gbamin, 2019 for 25 million euros to Everton.

In the past few weeks, Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach have been discussed in the TM rumor mill as potential new clubs for Stach from the summer. “I hear the rumors too,” said the “six” with a laugh. “If everyone should be right, that is of course nice to hear. But I haven’t noticed that much about it myself and I’m not dealing with it at all at the moment, I’m currently concentrating exclusively on myself and our season.”
