St. Brown surprised by the NFL boom in Germany

The German football player Amon-Ra St. Brown is surprised how popular the North American professional league NFL is in Germany.

“The boom has really grown since I was last there. The Germans are real fans, they love football,” said the Detroit Lions player in an interview with “Sport Bild”.

In November, the first North American professional league game in Germany will take place in Munich between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Seattle Seahawks. It’s a “real dream” to even play an NFL game in a German stadium, said St. Brown. “Hopefully the Lions can play there next year.”

The 22-year-old is aiming for personal bests for the season that begins on Thursday. St. Brown wants to achieve more than ten touchdowns, create 1,300 yards and catch over 100 balls, as he explained. In his last rookie season, he had five touchdowns.

The wide receiver hopes that his team will do much better than last time. “We just have better players now,” said St. Brown. In the preseason, Detroit was one of the worst teams in the NFL with just three wins and one draw.
