SS23 Menswear Trends: Over the Rainbow

This season’s menswear was shaped by strong shows in London, Milan and Paris. A number of standout trends for S/S23 were on display, including lots of bright colours, tie-dyes and ombré, which give the clothes a good dose of dopamine.

EGR

London-based brand AGR creates brightly colored knitwear with a nightclub vibe. Looks included a tie-dye rainbow jumper paired with shiny tech pants and an AGR-branded crossbody bag.

Amiri

Los Angeles native Mike Amiri showed in Paris. Although his earlier designs are rooted in denimwear, he expanded the S/S23 collection the offer with a variety of fabrics and colors. Look 50 consisted of a cotton knit sweater reminiscent of shibori techniques paired with relaxed fit trousers in a silk fabric.

Bluemarble

For S/S23, Anthony Alvarez presented a collection with a Californian flair. Look 25 consisted of a tie-dye sweatshirt embellished with shiny patches and paired with white technical cargo pants.

Dries Van Noten

Dries Van Noten’s S/S23 collection was partly based on the Buffalo style of 1980s London with elements of current motocross culture. For Look 57, the designer showed off a sleeveless zip-up top with an orange and yellow design paired with patchwork shorts.

Aurélien Arbet, José Lamali and Jérémie Egry used a kaleidoscope of colors for the finale of their S/S23 show. Look 34 featured a shirt and shorts in a kaleidoscopically colorful tie-dye pattern.

Designer Louis-Gabriel Nouchi for Joeone sent a zip-up jacket and wide-leg pants set down the runway in a wavy purple, green and blue tie-dye mix inspired by Chinese artist Wang Ximeng’s paintings.

It was the first collection since Virgil Abloh’s death, but his signature was evident in every look. The concept of the game served as inspiration. Look 28 paired an orange and white baseball jacket with green and orange tie-dye skater pants.

Look 54 by Marcelo Burlon for S/S23 consisted of a long sleeve tank top and matching wide leg trousers in a 60’s inspired red and blue tie dye print.

Marine Serre

The designer dubbed her S/S23 collection ‘State of Soul’. Look 40 featured two pieces in a green tie-dye pattern overlaid with an extensive silk painting.

Rick Owens

Contrary to his usual monotonous color palette, Rick Owens presented a handful of individual pieces in bold colors. Look 33 consisted of a hot pink ombre slim-fit top paired with high-shine cargo pants.
