SRV is making a comeback and is marketing West Frisian regional products

Selling regional products without a middleman. That is the goal of the six initiators of ‘Westfries Vers op de Weg’. They put their heads together and after a year they managed to get the SRV truck on the road in Opperdoes, Twist, de Weere and Benningbroek and offer West Frisian regional products.

“We started looking for an SRV vehicle, which was not that easy, because most are bought by a buyer. But then we suddenly saw one available somewhere on the Betuwe and we picked it up immediately,” says Henk. , one of the initiators. “Luckily Jan is technical and has checked a lot, the car drives well!” He drives the car as if he has been doing so for years.

The people behind ‘Westfries Vers op de Weg’ are a team consisting of six volunteers who started this foundation. “Everyone has their own expertise. One is a connector, the other is responsible for the corporate identity, I am the contact person for the food producers, Marloes does the communication and Jan is very technical. We are a diverse team with one goal, to sell regional products directly to the consumer, this way we help the producers and the customers are also very happy with it,” says Matthijs Post.

Buffer

The team hopes to receive a large buffer with their crowdfunding in the coming weeks so that they can make a good start and purchase more so that the car is well filled. “We want more fresh products such as pasta and dairy. We hope to be able to offer that within four weeks,” says Henk.

Regional products

For many residents, the SRV car is a solution, because it goes to places where there is no supermarket. “We no longer have a car, so otherwise I would have to cycle 6 kilometers to Medemblik,” says a customer. Another customer is happy that the products are from the region. “In the past, an SRV van sold normal products, but these are local products. I’m happy with that.”

Westfries Vers op de Weg is also looking for volunteers who enjoy working in the car. The car will run every Saturday from February 10.
