After the successful first season of the South Korean thriller and survival series “Squid Game”, which appeared on Netflix in 2021, the second full-length season followed almost three years later, on December 26th, on the streaming platform. And series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is already talking about the third season of the series.

“Squid Game” will therefore end with a third season. This is scheduled to appear in 2025.

In an interview with Variety, the director talks about his idea of when exactly the third season will be announced: “At this point, anything I could say would be a spoiler, so I want to be careful. But what I can say is that after the launch of the second season, we will soon announce the start date for the third season.” And further: “I assume that it will start in the summer or autumn of next year.”

Review of the second season

In November, Dong-hyuk admitted that he made the second season mainly for the money: “Even though the first series was such a huge success worldwide, I honestly didn’t make much,” Hwang said. “So the second series will help me compensate for the success of the first series. And I didn’t quite finish the story.”

Meanwhile, the reviews are overwhelming online. Among others on “IMDB”. User ratings there vary from “Addictive and hilarious!” (Don’t listen to the haters)” to “Boring, fake and overly dramatic.”
