After interim coach Mike Büskens, Schalke sports director Rouven Schröder has now also been infected with the corona virus.
A PCR test confirmed the positive result of a quick test on Wednesday, FC Schalke 04 announced. All other professionals and officials of the second division soccer team had tested negative, it said. Schröder is symptom-free and has gone into domestic isolation.
Büskens, who took over the post at Schalke after the separation from head coach Dimitrios Grammozis by the end of the season, was only able to follow the first practice sessions from his home office because of his corona infection. Until Büskens returns, U17 assistant coach Tim Hoogland will support assistant coach Matthias Kreutzer in training.
