Sports director Mönchengladbach – Eberl: Bavaria would like to drop the game after Corona cases

Mönchengladbach (dpa) – According to Gladbach’s sports director Max Eberl, autumn champions FC Bayern Munich are pushing for the second half of the Bundesliga opening game scheduled for Friday to be postponed because of the numerous corona cases in his professional squad.

“The fact is that Bayern would like to sell,” said Eberl at a Borussia press conference in Mönchengladbach. Eberl reported that he spoke with the league and also with Bayern’s sports director Hasan Salihamidzic. “That is not our topic,” he commented on the decision of the German Football League. “Ultimately, the Bundesliga decides whether the game takes place or not,” said Gladbach’s coach Adi Hütter. He is further preparing his team for an event on January 7th (8.30 p.m. / Sat.1 and DAZN) in the Munich arena.

Bayern currently have eight professionals who have tested positive. Attacker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and defender Bouna Sarr are also deployed for the Africa Cup. According to the DFL game regulations, at least 15 licensed players and / or amateurs / contract players who are authorized to play in the licensed team must be available.

These 15 players must include nine licensed players, including a goalkeeper. Blocked or injured actors are also counted. On Wednesday, coach Julian Nagelsmann had ten healthy field players and three goalkeepers in team training in Munich.
