Sportoase Duinenwater adjusts opening hours to reduce rising costs

Concretely, from Monday 17 April, only the recreational part will open on 4 of the 5 weekdays from 4 to 9 pm and on Wednesday from 1 to 9 pm. During the weekends, the recreational area remains available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., on holidays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Make choices

More than 90 percent of visitors use the recreational area in the later afternoon, evenings, Wednesdays and weekend days. That is why the recreational part (recreational pool, wellness, slides & toddler and toddler zone) opens later on weekdays. During weekends and holidays, the opening hours of the recreational area remain the same.

“Energy and personnel costs are two major costs. They continue to rise, so we have to make choices so that we can continue to offer all activities and services on a daily basis,” says Michaël Schouwaerts, General Manager of Group Sportoase.

Temporary measure

The group also takes structural initiatives with regard to energy consumption and sustainable energy generation. In addition, they continue to negotiate with energy suppliers to optimize energy rates.

Moreover, this is a temporary measure in which Sportoase evaluates every three months. “If the energy market stabilizes again, we can expand the range again,” says Michaël Schouwaerts.
