Handelsverbund Sport 2000 GmbH, which is part of the ANWR Group, published key data on business development last year on Monday. Overall, the company was satisfied with the results. Sport 2000 “successfully asserted itself in a challenging 2024 financial year,” explained the trading association.
The association, which is active in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and the Benelux countries, achieved gross external sales of 4.04 billion euros at the “seven-country level”, thus slightly exceeding the previous year’s level, it says Notice. In Germany, 2.78 billion euros were reached, which was a decrease compared to the previous year.
The growth drivers are the categories running, winter sports and team sports
What was “particularly pleasing” was that the retailers managed to achieve “an increase of 1.53 percent in sales despite the moderate consumer mood,” explained Sport 2000. According to the association group, this was due to strong growth in the important categories Running (+13.2 percent), winter sports (+9.8 percent) and team sports (+6.6 percent). The purchasing volume of Sport 2000 partner companies in Germany also “increased by 1.9 percent in a like-for-like comparison”.
According to Sport 2000, 1,451 companies with 2,000 sales outlets belonged to the group at the end of December. Of these, 942 companies with 1,287 sales outlets were in Germany.
“The number of dealers is still at a very high level,” emphasized Sport 2000 managing director Margit Gosau in a statement. “In 2024, we will again have high-quality partner additions, such as Sport Conrad, Sport Fits or Handball2go/Sport Kölle. We are well on the way to compensating for the losses from the previous year step by step.”
