The initiative for the strike came from airport security personnel, who are in conflict with BSCA Security, the company responsible for airport security.

According to ‘RTL Info’, the strike started around 2.30 pm and passengers were not allowed to enter the airport for an hour. By 4 p.m. the departure hall was packed. Security personnel stopped working for two hours.

displeasure

In a statement on Sunday evening, the airport said it was displeased with BSCA Security’s decision to award a future public tender to two operators instead of one. It concerns a tender for the security checks that passengers must submit to before they can go to the gates.

Security personnel are concerned about the takeover of the current agents by the new operators, as well as changes in training and compensation.

In the statement, the management underlines that it is prepared to accommodate these concerns as best as possible in the tender specifications. She also points out that salaries are regulated in the joint committee 317.

“The airport regrets this wild wave of protests that is taking passengers hostage, despite the fact that talks were still held on September 30, in which the management of BSCA Security had confirmed that it wants to frame the tender in the best possible way to meet expectations of the personnel of subcontractor Security Master”, concludes the management.

This afternoon’s spontaneous action has ended, but the delays have not yet been eliminated.
