Spinnova appoints former Under Armor executive Allan Andersen as chief sales officer

The Finnish textile manufacturer Spinnova Plc has underlined its growth ambitions with a personnel decision. On Monday, the recycling specialist announced that Allan Andersen has been appointed to the newly created post of chief sales officer, effective immediately. The Dane is also a member of the management team and will report directly to CEO Janne Poranen, the company said.

Andersen has many years of experience in the global sporting goods industry. Most recently, he held various management positions at the US company Under Armor Inc. from 2013 to 2022. Among other things, he worked there as Director of Sales, Director of Commercial Optimization and Go-to-Market, Chief of Staff, Global Revenue, and Director of International Business Development. Prior to that, Andersen spent more than eleven years at Adidas, including managing sales in Latin America.

At Spinnova, he is now said to play “an essential role” in the company’s growth plans. “We are pleased that with Allan we can continue our success story with our customers and partners and further strengthen the Spinnova management team,” said CEO Poranen in a statement. “He has excellent expertise in international market expansion, cross-channel sales development and brand development.” Andersen’s “experience and profile” was a great fit with the “organization’s goals and mission,” says Poranen.

According to Spinnova, it aims to become the “preferred sustainable textile material in various categories and industries”. The company, which uses its own process to produce new fibers from wood and recycled waste, has been listed on the stock exchange since last year and is currently massively expanding its production capacities. In recent years, it has already concluded development and production agreements with well-known clothing suppliers such as Adidas, The North Face, Hennes & Mauritz and the Danish textile group Bestseller Group.
